Making your first appointment

Spend some time reading through our frequently asked questions and getting to know a bit about our therapists.

If Heart Wild feels like the therapeutic experience you’ve been looking for, we can’t wait to meet you. Our initial consultation session is the best opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have and determine whether you and your therapist are a good fit.

Our first meeting

Whether you choose to come to the office or to meet virtually for our first visit, we will arrive with open hearts and compassion, ready to hear what you have to say.

If you are feeling confident in the direction of your journey, we will work to be responsive to your needs. If you are unsure about where you’d like to begin, we will develop a directed approach to give you a voice without putting pressure on you to know immediately.

We’ll spend an hour together defining the adventure we’ll take together.

Beginning your journey

After our first appointment, we will develop a schedule that suits you: from timing to healing, all aspects of your unique needs will be considered. Most clients come in weekly to ensure our relationship is given consistent attention as we work toward your healing, particularly if EMDR is part of your therapeutic process. Our plan will cover the kinds of struggles you’d like to overcome and the tools best suited to help.

Depending on your preferences, we will continue to work together as long as it suits you. From 6 months to 6 years, therapeutic relationships take many forms and durations and ours will center around your needs and comfort. Through this time, we will continue to nurture a relationship that cultivates the goals you want to achieve and the best processes to get there. From deciding whether you’d like homework tasks to the duration of care, you will always have a say in your Heart Wild healing.

If at any point during our therapy relationship you are in crisis, please use emergency services. Do not wait for your appointment, but bring anything you feel is helpful to our next visit and we will process the experience together.

If you or someone you love is in immediate crisis, please call 1-844-493-TALK (8255) or text TALK to 38255.

Frequently Asked Questions

There’s a lot of unknown on a therapy journey, but we want to give you as much knowledge as possible so you feel confident in your plan.
We’ve addressed some of our most common questions below.

Will the things I share be kept private?

Always. Except in the event of real or threatened injury to self or others, the therapeutic relationship is a confidential place of healing.

Legally, we are bound to keep your information private. Ethically and personally, we seek to earn and uphold your trust through using that confidentiality to develop safety within our therapeutic journey.

How does telehealth work?

Virtual therapy, or telehealth, is the very same therapy you’d get in our office, but offered to you wherever you are. Whether you’re battling a busy schedule or simply feel more comfortable on the other end of your computer screen, we’re here to support and accommodate you.

We conduct our telehealth support through DOXY, a free to access platform that ensures your privacy and doesn’t require you to download any specific software.

What are your COVID/health protocols?

We are very committed to keeping a safe space for every client from your physical body to your emotional one.

Please ensure you’re symptom free. If you’re feeling unwell, you’re welcome to cancel or opt for a virtual visit instead. Please give atleast 48 hours cancelation notice whenever possible.

If anyone in your household is ill or if you believe you have come into contact with an illness but you are asymptomatic, please wear a mask to your appointment or opt for a virtual visit.

Your therapist reserves the right to move sessions to virtual for any reason.

What if therapy isn’t helping?

Then let’s change it! We are more than open to hearing your feedback and adjusting your treatment plan to ensure you’re getting as much benefit as possible. We encourage your honest input when something isn’t working (or when it is) so that we can respond by adjusting what we prioritize in your sessions, or the modalities we’re using to engage your healing.

Your voice matters. Please know you’re safe to use it in this space. We are committed to making sure you are making progress, and we want to get you there even if it means referring you to someone else.

Where do in-person appointments happen?

Heart Wild Psychotherapy is located on Ralston Road in Arvada, CO near Denver, and this is where in-person visits will take place.

We are located in the blue building on the 2nd Floor, above Hart’s Dancewear.  Enter through the main front entrance and head up the stairs inside. Parking is available in the rear of the building in any unmarked spots!  Street parking is available on nearby streets Yukon St or on Robinson Way.  If the front door is locked, please text your therapist and they’ll be right out to let you in!

Why aren’t you in network with my insurance?

Simply put, we don’t want our therapy practices to be dictated by health insurance companies. We want to offer the best treatment based on your needs, not the insurance companies’ needs.

What are your scheduling procedures?

Appointments can be scheduled by phone, text, or email at any time, or we can pull out the calendar and plan your next few sessions at any point in the therapy process.

If you need to cancel or change your appointment, we need 48 hours’ notice, otherwise, we’ll charge the full session fee.

Should you find yourself held up and arrive late, please let us know as soon as possible.

How long are sessions?

Whether in-person or online, our sessions will last 50 minutes. Ketamine therapy sessions are 2-3 hours in length.
